Making arts education a right, not a privilege

Meet Me at the Museum seeks to make elementary school field trips to NYC museums inclusive and empowering by offering free, personalized tours. We assemble a series of art pieces that are relevant to classroom curricula, and work to broaden students’ understanding of what art can be. Each tour focuses on several guided questions, allowing each class and student to have a significant personal experience.

Our Values

Critical thinking

By guiding students through the process of analyzing a work of art, we cultivate critical-thinkers, empowering students to articulate their experiences no matter what content is being addressed.

Connection

We encourage students to make connections between school and lived experiences by working with teachers to incorporate their specific curricula into our tours. Our interdisciplinary approach enhances students’ understanding of how and where learning can happen.

Communication

By fostering student’s participation throughout our tours, our students learn to communicate original ideas. We practice empathy by looking at an artwork, identifying the emotions of the piece, and putting into words what students think is being expressed.

Creativity

By studying the arts, a student’s creativity is naturally engaged. The arts drive creative inquiry, which is the fuel for all disciplines. We support our students in strengthening skills and instincts that unlock questions, solve problems, and allow them to discover new possibilities both in and out of the classroom.
